Entertainment by Ed & Peck

South Sacramento Club members were given a real treat when their own Ed Trujillo (left) was joined by his friend Peck in a classical guitar concert. While they featured Christmas music in preparation for their appearance at the Governor's Mansion, they added a few other special pieces to their program.

Presenting Thanksgiving Baskets

South Sac Rotarians delivered Thanksgiving baskets to several families in the South Sacramento area. One such delivery went to a family at John Bidwell Elementary School. DG Jo Ann Lemmon Visits South Sac

District 5180 DG Jo Ann Lemmon visited South Sacramento Rotary on August 30. In honor of her visit and recognizing the "duck races" to come at Jo Ann's District Conference in October, Gloria Ferry (left) presented Jo Ann with her very own ducky! She also crowned her as the first female DG in District 5180. In addition to meeting with the Board, Jo Ann took time during the meeting to respond to questions about RI and the district.

Kevin Vang, a senior at Luther Burbank High School, was recognized as South Sac Rotary's Student of the Month for March. Kevin plans to enter the guaranteed transfer program at Sacramento City College and transfer to UCD in his junior year. As far as a major is concerned, he is keeping his options open for now and planning on getting his general education requirements out of the way. J.R. Springer (right) introduced Kevin to the club at its March 1 meeting.

Another Successful Crab Feed

South Sacramento Rotary held its 28th Annual Crab Feed on February 26, and as always, it was a great occasion. Between 450 and 500 tickets were sold, and those in attendance not only had great food but had the opportunity to bid on some great prizes! We look forward to Number 29 next year!

Annual Speech Contest Results

South Sacramento Rotary held its annual club level speech contest on Monday, February 8. Students from local high schools were invited to prepare a 5-8 minute speech on the topic "The Future is in Your Hands." South Sac Rotary Delivers Dictionaries to 7 Schools

South Sacramento Rotary is proud to have once again increased the number of third graders receiving dictionaries this year. All third graders at Susan B. Anthony Elementary, Freeport Elementary, John Bidwell Elementary, Ethel Phillips Elementary, Fruitridge Elementary, Bret Harte Elementary, and Hollywood Park Elementary have received beautiful, full-color dictionaries during their classes in the past month!
