Welcoming New and Future Members

South Sacramento Rotary has added to its membership this year. Christy Moore (left) of Farmers and Merchants Bank joined the club in March. Jocelyn Yap (center), who is a realtor with Cook Realty, came aboard in August, and Corky Mau, recently retired from recycling management, will join the club on October 8.

Helping "Paint the Town"

South Sacramento Rotary members joined other service organizations in the area to "paint the town" on Saturday, September 15. Our club was responsible for landscaping yards in the Oak Park part of town. One resident who had benefitted from the program the past year joined the group to show her appreciation.

RYLA Speaks

South Sacramento Rotarians always look forward to hearing from those they have sponsored at RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) in June. Imani Richards (left in photo) and Annie Nguyen shared how RYLA made a difference in their lives at South Sac's regular meeting on August 20. Both are looking forward to their senior year in high school and are ready to use what they learned at RYLA in their work at their schools. Imani attends Country Day High School, and Annie attends Luther Burbank High School.

Welcoming Jocelyn

South Sacramento Rotary welcomed Jocelyn Yap into its membership on August 13. On hand to induct her was District Governor Bob Deering. Jocelyn has been very active in the club even before becoming a member, and she is looking forward to further involvement now that she is a member. She is a realtor with Cook Realty. Pictured above form left to right are DG Bob Deering, Jocelyn, her sponsor Frank Cook, and President JR Springer.

Thanking Frank (aka Uncle Sam)

2012-13 President JR Springer (left) recently thanked Frank Cook for serving as Uncle Sam and drawing potential buyers to our fireworks stand. For years, Frank has donned an Uncle Sam outfit in VERY warm weather and stood on Freeport Boulevard enthusiastically pointing people to Rotary's fireworks stand. Thank you, Frank, for literally sweating it out!

Need Some Fireworks for the 4th?

South Sacramento Rotarians are manning a fireworks booth near Raley's on Freeport Blvd. At the left from left to right, Nancy Coben, Frank Cook, Dwight Norris, and Dave Lambros pose in front of the booth. Frank Cook (aka Uncle Sam) fills the center frame, encouraging passers-by to stop and make a purchase. At the right from left to right, Michael DiGrazia, Krysai Falltrick, and Jim Simmons show off some of the products for sale.
